In this episode, we welcome Eric Smith-Gunn, CEO and Co-Founder of Enfuego Films. Eric has been in the entertainment field for over 30 years. He joins the Paying It Forward Podcast to discuss his start, how his experience as an athlete helped shape is work ethic as a writer and director. Eric talks about role models and mentors that have shaped him, and how he mentors production team members as well as actors and actresses. He transitions into how a TED Talk changed his life and defined his Paying It Forward mantra. He talks about making sure you see and understand working when nobody is looking, responding to roadblocks and obstacles, and how focusing and staying on track force him to dig in.
Eric provides his perspective on three (3) key leadership skills and character traits that are important to success: listening, knowing what you want, and servant leadership.
During our conversation, Eric stresses the importance of technology as a tool but that it doesn’t replace the personal connection and relationship building that are really paramount to career success.
Eric discusses how hiring is easier than you might think when you find focused and talented people.
